More than 100 people showed up to the official launch of the Heart Matters Project, which involved a collaborative effort between paramedic Anita Stirling, Moama Village Pharmacy and the Moama Bowling Club, who all teamed up to offer an informative session about heart health.
The session, which ran at the Moama Bowling Club on Wednesday, May 4, coincided with National Heart Week (May 2 to 8).
Ms Stirling said the session was quite interactive, as audience members were allowed to try out a defibrillator on a dummy.
“Having 100 members of the community volunteer to come out in the evening to learn about heart health was absolutely fantastic,” she said.
Ms Stirling, who is the co-ordinator for the Campaspe Heart Matters Project, will be providing free heart-health education sessions to community groups and businesses over the phone or in person.
These sessions, which will run until March 2023, aim to reduce the number of heart attacks occurring in the region.
