The Petstock Foundation is partnering with Foodbank Australia to launch the ‘Big Hearts Project’, which asks community members to donate as little as $2 to feed furry friends in need.
The Big Hearts Project aims to raise $100,000 throughout August to help distribute essential pet food across the country through Foodbank’s national charity network.
Petstock Echuca store manager Mel Borella said a small donation could make a huge difference.
“You can come into our store, or any Petstock store during August, and donate just $2,” she said.
“Just $2 is enough to provide a meal for a pet, and it makes a real difference.”

According to Foodbank Australia, pet owners are going the extra mile to take care of their pets, even at the expense of their own wellbeing.
Foodbanks research shows that 24 per cent of Australians in food-insecure homes are skipping meals, so their pets can eat.
Around 42 per cent of Australian pet owners are buying cheaper food for themselves, and 34 per cent are reducing their own food intake.
Despite the growing number of Australians struggling to feed their families, only nine per cent of food-insecure pet owners know that pet food is available through food relief services.
All funds donated to the foundation will support the foundation’s partners and projects.
