HOMICIDE detectives from Melbourne have arrived in Cohuna following the murder of a man in the Murray River town.
It is understood they are investigating possible drug links to the shooting death.
They have been joined at the scene – near the intersection of Easton and Cohuna Island roads – by Major Crime Scene and ballistics experts.
Eastons Rd is expected to be closed for the rest of the day while police and forensics comb the crime scene.
A Cohuna resident, who did not want to be named, said they heard sirens – and then a helicopter – just after 6am.
“Cohuna is a safe town,” she said.
“But when something like this happens it really makes you think.”
More to come.
