The local grocer beat out five other stores to collect the Small Groceries and Perishables Award at the IGA Victorian Awards of Excellence in Melbourne.
IGA Echuca owner Lance Mitchell was elated with the recognition during the awards night held at Crown Casino.
“We offer our customers the right range at the best price and we’re also focused on presentation and doing what the competition doesn’t — fantastic customer service,” he said.
Victorian IGA state board chair Jeff Harper said it was a deserved victory for IGA Echuca.
“The team at IGA Local Grocer Echuca have recently completed a full renovation, spending a lot of time and effort to re-energise the store, which has been welcomed by the local community,” he said.
“They have installed new shelving, created a better range and started sourcing more local products, all to better support the local shoppers that support them.
“This award is testament to their passion and commitment they have in improving the store to benefit the entire community.
“Congratulations to the entire team, this award is truly well deserved.”

IGA Echuca prides itself on supporting the community and local charities.
For the past few years, the store has been helping Echuca Neighbourhood House with its Community Chest program, where 10 per cent is donated on a quarterly basis to the chosen charity.
The CFA has also been the recipient of assistance in previous years.
While the IGA Echuca team members quietly work away serving and supporting their community, this award is recognition for their all hard work.
Many locals purchase essential items and enjoy a yarn with staff members such as Jen Reid and Sammi Labinas.
Echuca resident Ian Paul was asked why he shops at IGA Echuca.
“It’s a great little shop, I come here all the time,” he said.
The win places IGA Echuca to compete at the national level, with winners from all other states up against one another in July.
