The draft 2025/26-2034/35 Financial Plan, which outlines the financial impact of actions and aspirations in the 2025-2028 Council Plan, is open for community feedback.
Mayor Garner Smith said the financial plan provided a forecast of the council’s fiscal position over the next decade.
“(It) identifies an underlying results deficit over the life of the plan and a surplus cash flow in five out of the 10 years of the plan,” he said.
“A 10-year capital works program and the recent update of our Asset Plan have assisted with the development of this draft plan.”
The council will consider borrowing money to fund projects that will have a demonstrated benefit to future generations, and where it has the capacity to repay debts.
