The Federal Government’s House Standing Committee on Economics will hold a public hearing in Rochester on Thursday, April 18, starting at 9am.
Committee Chair Daniel Mulino MP said the inquiry had already heard from regulators, insurance companies, consumer advocacy, and legal rights groups.
“Now we want to hear firsthand from the locals in some of the worst-hit regions,” he said.
Expressions of interest are also being sought from people who wish to give short statements about their experience with their insurers.
“(People) with a story to share, and who are willing to go on the public record (should) register – as soon as possible – their interest in appearing,” Dr Mulino said.
People can register by emailing the inquiry at floodinsurance.reps@aph.gov.au and telling them your name, contact details, and a brief summary of what you wish to talk about.
