Jackie’s four hour drive to Cup glory

Another cup for the cabinet: Echuca Harness Racing president Shane Gloury, Demon Delight driver Jackie Barker, owners Pam and Russell Hackham and Harness Racing Victoria board member Peter Watkinson after the running of the $35,000 Group three Moama Bowling Club Echuca Pacing Cup.
Victory: Arch Electrical owner Rob Clarke, who sponsored the Echuca Trotters Cup on Friday evening, with Dean Goodridge and Ellen Tormey, who drove outsider Zarem to victory in the Group three event.
Cup collector: Echuca Harnes Racing Club’s new president Shane Gloury with Marengo Bay owner Anne Jack, who with her husband (trainer/driver David) won the Alabar Farms Trotters Handicap Cup.
Harvey’s the hero: Husband-and-wife team Sarah and Michael Towers, with sponsor of the Tiffany Murray Memorial Pace event, Tim Mannix. Winner of the event, Im Harvey Specter was driven by Michael’s sister, Stacey Towers, to complete a family affair.
Trots debutantes: Ewen Rosser and Bella Goodson with the Trotters Cup that was won by Anne and David Jack with Marengo Bay on Friday night. Ewen is a huge horse fan and it was his first night at the trots, but he was off home soon after as he has a session planned at Freedom Equine Education (located between Rochester and Echuca) the next morning. The horsemanship business offers ground and ridden education for all ages. Ewen has his own horse, Miffie, and wanted the chance to hold the cup — which was afforded to him by the owners of the fourth event on the 10-race program.

Friday evening’s feature event on the Echuca Harness Racing Club program, it’s Group three $35,000 Moama Bowling Club Echuca Pacing Cup, turned into a showdown between two of Victoria’s top trainers.
