The under 12, 14 and 16 grades all had wins against Mooroopna on Saturday morning at the Echuca College.
The B men’s side also had a win on the road, beating SYC.
The premiership defences of the women’s A and B sides were not as successful, with both sides suffering opening round losses to Mooroopna at home.
Club president Darren Kell said while there is still a lot of work for the players to do as the season goes on, Saturday was a good start for the season.
‘‘It was a pretty good start to the season for the club,’’ he said.
‘‘There was definitely a bit of rust out on the court, which will take a bit of time to work out. Skills and fitness will come along in the next few weeks as the players get a bit more adjusted to the season.
‘‘What is exciting for the club is that our numbers are increasing by the day. We’ve picked up a lot of senior players, especially in the women’s sides, so that will really help us to build the team in the next few weeks as the season gets into full swing.’’
The club’s under 12, 14, B men and B women will continue their season on Saturday at home, while the A women and under 16 sides have the bye.
