Keep Gannawarra clean over the long weekend

Council chief executive Geoff Rollinson said the area attracted many visitors during holiday periods, and encouraged campers to keep its natural assets litter-free.

“Residents are reminded that these bins are not designed for household waste or the dumping of items such as mattresses or electrical equipment,” he said.

“In past instances, waste has been found placed around the skip bins when it has come to emptying these bins, which can be unsightly for residents living nearby and is dangerous to our local wildlife.”

Bins will be placed at the Cohuna Recreation Reserve second oval and near the Spences Bridge entrance to Gunbower National Park, among other locations.

Anyone who sees suspected illegal dumping can report it to EPA Victoria online by visiting epa.vic.gov.au/report-pollution or by phoning 1300 372 842.
