We last saw them making the rounds with candy for Halloween, and they were back last week delivering treats for Christmas.
They not only help put a smile on the faces of CBD workers, it also raises the profile of Kurrajong and the amazing work their staff and clients do in the community.
Fish of the Week
Jenny Burge with her 100cm Murray cod.
This week we shine the spotlight on Jenny Burge, who landed this 100cm Murray cod near Four Post Camp using Jan Juc worms on Sunday.
Her impressive fish follows a run of strong catches across the district, prompting Edward Kolety Fishing Challenge coordinator Andrew Jefferies to declare Deniliquin the Murray Cod capital.
“More big fish are being caught here than just about anywhere else,” he said.
The steady stream of large cod is being seen as a positive sign of a healthy, thriving river system.
Think your catch could be our next Fish of the Week?
This feature will continue in Tuesday editions, and we ask locals to send us a photo of your catch. Please also include details of size, bait, and where it was caught.
No PT on Friday
From all of us here at the Deni Pastoral Times, we wish you all a happy and safe Christmas.
Our staff will be taking a short break, with the office closed from Christmas Eve and reopening on Monday, December 29.
With the team that prints our newspapers also taking a break, there will be no Pastoral Times edition released this Friday, December 26.
All other editions will print as normal.
Coachie Sing-along
Wet weather may have forced the early end of the annual Christmas carols on Friday night, but the festive spirit was far from dampened.
Instead, the Coach House Hotel opened its doors to the Sing Australia Choir, which stepped in to lead an impromptu sing-along.
Council bin collection notice
Edward River Council has advised there will be no rubbish collection on Christmas Day, Thursday, December 25.
Residents are asked to put their bins out on Christmas night for an early Boxing Day pickup.
