It was a chance to farewell one of the stalwarts of its club: Geordie Chapman.
With Chapman's son Russell speaking to LBU's playing group before the game, players later formed a guard of honour at Nichol Trading Oval and wore black armbands in memory of Chapman, who passed away early last month.
Further honouring its life member and time-keeper for more than three decades, the club officially unveiled its newly renamed time-keeper's box, Geordie's Time Keeper's Box.
"Geordie was a legend of the club and he will be sorely missed,” club president Andrew Cochrane said.
And taking that emotion into its game against Colbinabbin, the Bombers made sure to honour Chapman on the scoreboard too, soundly beating Colbinabbin to the tune of 95 points.
Keeping Colbinabbin to one goal in the first half, LBU piled on the pain in the remaining two quarters, booting 12 goals to seal the convincing victory.
Following the win, Cochrane said it was a fantastic day all round for the club.
"We're more than happy with the win, but I don't think it reflects where Colbo are at the moment,” he said.
"After the first week, I thought we were a little bit sloppy, but yesterday, it was good game of footy.
"Everyone is just happy being back playing football.”
Heading to Toolleen Recreation Reserve to face Mt Pleasant next weekend, Cochrane said the Bombers would look to carry their winning momentum into another away game.
"Trent Bacon probably comes back in for us next week, so we shouldn't be too far off full strength, I'd think,” Cochrane said.
"Mt Pleasant picked up a couple good blokes and down there is always pretty tough, they play that ground pretty well.
"We'll go in confident with a pretty healthy list and we'll just see what happens.”
