According to the Bureau of Meteorology, about 0.6mm of rain fell between 1am and 2am in Echuca before a further 2mm poured down in the following hour.
At about 2am, the wind speed peaked at 10km/h while gust speeds reached a high of 15km/h.
While Echuca only recorded 2.6mm, other areas to the south and east of the North Central region recorded between 10mm and 26.6mm over the 24 hours to Monday.
Despite the lightning and rain early on Monday, it was then clear skies once again in Echuca as the sun rose.
The weather is expected to remain sunny and warm over the coming week, with only light showers expected on the evening of Wednesday, February 11.
The heat is also expected to peak on Wednesday, with a high of 39°C, before temperatures begin to drop.
Thursday, February 12 is forecast to be much cooler, with a high of 23°C, followed by a high of 27°C on Friday, February 13.
