Echuca Lions staged a successful grand final dinner at Rich River Golf Club on September 23.
Guest speakers were the former Collingwood wizard Peter Daicos, Bulldogs hero Doug Hawkins and The Suburban Footballer, Tom Siegert.
All three were tremendous, and good money was spent on their memorabilia.
Echuca Lions would like to thank Rich River Golf Club for its support of the event.
More than $11,000 was raised on the night.
UNLOVED GLASSES HEAD NORTH
Echuca Lions sent unloved glasses off to the distribution centre in Queensland.
More than 1000 pairs have been distributed in the past six months for people in developing countries.
Any glasses not able to be used are then sent to Japan to be recycled.
Echuca Lions thanks Specsavers and Horsfalls in Echuca and Kyabram.
If you have unwanted glasses, contact Barry Kelly on 5482 3471.
Respect: Pat Sehestedt with Echuca Lions Club secretary John Simson at the unveiling of a plaque honouring her late husband, Des, on the Memorial Wall.
MEMORIAL WALL
Echuca Lions has had four members die during the past 12 months.
A memorial wall established by the club features plaques placed in their memory.
Recently, plaques were placed for Des Sehestedt (12-year member) and also for Graeme Hawker.
Mr Hawker, a life member of Echuca Lions, was a member of the club for 48 years.
Family members of both men were present for the ceremony.
A Lions convention in Numurkah on October 8 and 9 will feature a special service to commemorate those who have departed, and Echuca members will be attending.
ANNUAL TRAILER RAFFLE
Echuca Lions members are starting to prepare their annual trailer raffle.
The raffle commences in late November and is drawn around Christmas Eve.
This raffle is into its 20th year and has been a great fundraiser for the club.
FOOTY TIPPING WINNER REVEALED
Echuca Lions recently held a well-attended night to finalise the football tipping results for 2022.
Members and their wives attended the evening, with a good night had by all.
The winner of the football tipping competition for the season was Keith Bremner.
Congratulations Keith.
