Locals shine at Finley tournament

Xander Smith and Maanu Alexander.

Members of Finley Squash Club were the proud hosts of a Junior Squash Tournament conducted by Squash and Racquetball north-east Victoria Association at the weekend.

President Kevin Quick - the organiser who runs these tournaments around Victoria and lower NSW - was impressed with the 33 entries comprised of 15 from Finley and the rest from Wodonga, Leeton, Deniliquin, Albury, Coleambally, Yarrawonga and Shepparton clubs.

“This is the seventh tournament I have attended in the series, and it is the largest field so far,” Quick said.

“I think squash in Finley has a very positive future.”

The Finley Squash Club currently has about 60 members comprised of seniors and juniors, and holds four yearly competitions.

New members are most welcome, and further information can be obtained by contacting Brett Murphy on 0409 806 695.
