Born in Mulwala on January 28, 1927, Lorna has witnessed enormous change in Yarrawonga and Mulwala, from the hardships of the Great Depression and World War II to the creation of the Yarrawonga Weir and Lake Mulwala, and the development of the towns as a major tourism destination.
Lorna began her working life at the munitions factory as secretary to the general manager before moving to Sydney, where she continued working until her retirement. She later returned to Yarrawonga.
Throughout her life, Lorna has travelled extensively for both work and holidays. Her most recent overseas trip was to the Holy Land (Israel) at the age of 92.
Never short of advice, when asked her secret to a long life, Lorna said, “Don’t waste an opportunity and remain active in every way possible.”
