The 22nd running of the Hattah Desert Race will attract over 700 competitors from across the country and internationally as they tackle the country’s largest motorbike race.
Highside Motorcycles will support 13 motorbike riders who are set to compete in the event by fulfilling roles such as pit crew.
‘‘It gives us a great thrill as a company to help people out,’’ Highside manager Dave Kellett said.
‘‘For some of these guys, getting across the line is going to be their biggest goal. If anyone picks up a trophy along the way it will be a bonus.
‘‘Getting 13 guys to the event is satisfying because the open entries sold out in just eight minutes.’’
Sam Davie — who also represents the Husqvarna Motorcycles Australia Desert Racing Team — has been identified as the best local hope after a sixth-placed finish at the Finke Desert Race last month.
Riders are able to enter the event across 17 different classes between junior and senior divisions.
The junior tracks consist of eight laps of 8kms or 10 laps of 15kms, depending on class.
In the ironman category, riders will battle it out in an eight-lap race across a 38km course, while the women will do the same course but over four laps.
