And did Moama ever need this win.
The Mowers, still the best side in the competition, put a bad two week patch behind them with a ten goal victory against Cobram.
Moama co-coach Charlotte Long said the result was something the team simply had to have.
“I think we really needed it,” she said.
“The team of late hasn’t been at its best as we haven’t had our full side on the court. It’s starting to come back together which will play a huge part in the back half of the season, but to rebuild a bit of confidence in the side we needed to get back on the winners list.”
A top five side in Cobram didn’t seem to be a major challenge on the scoreboard in the end, though Long admits her team may have gotten ahead of themselves.
“In a way I don’t think we had gave them as much respect as they were owed,” she said.
“They were level with us at the half, they played a really good brand of netball and it was hard for us to get away from them in the first half of the match.
‘‘Fortunately we were able to come out after the half time break and get on top of them and play some really good netball to get the win.”
Though the Mowers have only one loss and one draw against them, the result did see them drop another peg down the ladder to now be sitting in third.
And it should cause a big response for the Mowers.
“We understand the position it puts us in,” Long said.
“We have a couple of challenges ahead of us in the back half of the season, but there are a lot of games where we are going to have to put our best netball on the court and get our percentage up in order to get the job done.”
Moama’s next match comes on Saturday against Tungamah.
