On Thursday, May 22, audiences will be taken to the islands of Greece for the fifth of now eight shows.
Co-director Mark Thomson said ticket sales had shown there was enough interest to Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! an additional performance.
“Currently, we’ve got 75 per cent of our tickets sold for all the existing seven shows,” he said.
“I think the opening night and matinée on the first Saturday, there’s only about 40 seats left for those two shows.
“So, we’ve decided to release an eighth show on Thursday the 22nd.”
During previous productions, EMTC has sold out shows to the point where prospective audience members have missed out.
In the case of Mamma Mia!, the team wants to make sure every Super Trouper has a seat at the Echuca Paramount.
“When we did Shrek two years ago, we had almost sold-out performances and a lot of people missed out,” Mr Thomson said.
“So, we sort of thought ahead this time, and we thought Mamma Mia! was going to be popular.
“We had the opportunity to do that extra show, and the cast and everyone agreed to be part of it.”
Mr Thomson is confident the cast and crew of Dancing Queens can handle another soirée at the Summer Nights Taverna.
“(Monday) night’s rehearsal was really upbeat and full of enthusiasm,” he said.
“People are honing their skills, taking it on board and getting theatre-ready.
“I’m looking forward to seeing everyone at the Paramount.”
Mamma Mia! show times are Friday, May 16 at 7.30pm; Saturday, May 17 at 2pm and 7.30pm; Sunday, May 18 at 2pm; Saturday, May 22 at 7.30pm; Friday, May 23 at 7.30pm; and Saturday, May 24 at 2pm and 7.30pm.
