The business took out the category of best mechanical, light vehicle and was among 36 Victorian businesses and owners in the automotive industry awards.
Echuca Service Centre owner Matt McIntosh said the team was rapt to receive the recognition.
‘‘Nearly every garage in Victoria is a VACC member so it’s a pretty big group to be picked from,’’ he said.
‘‘The award is about how we conduct our business and just how well we do what we do.
‘‘And it’s thanks to our customers, the team and the people in town who support us. It helps that we have the backing of being a Repco authorised service centre, it has been a part of the business for 12 years.’’
The business has gone from strength to strength since beginning in 1996 as a one man mechanic to now employing 15 people.
Matt said after relocating two years ago to the current workshop at 1 Northern Hwy, the team can do quite literally everything.
‘‘Since we relocated it’s been really positive, we’re now a one stop shop — mechanics, 4X4 accessories, auto electrics, paint and panel, detailing, car restorations, dyno tuning and diagnostics, performance tuning, LPG conversions, European car servicing, vehicle towing and transportation, car and home window tinting, tyre services, wheel alignments, loan cars and fleet maintenance,’’ he said.
Victorian Automobile Chamber of Commerce (VACC) chief executive Geoff Gwilym said the awards demonstrate VACC members’ commitment to quality and customer service.
‘‘It is a huge accolade to be named the best in Victoria and these businesses have all proved themselves worthy of that title,’’ Mr Gwilym said.
Eight expert judges evaluated entries based on business management, workplace practices, customer service and marketing and communication.
Of the 5500 businesses statewide, that number was whittled down to 36.
‘‘VACC congratulates all of the winners in the 2019 VACC Industry Awards and recommends them to Victorian motorists. Remember to look for the famous orange VACC sign, the mark of the industry professional,’’ Mr Gwilym said.
