Moama Lions Club president Colin Hosking was happy with the turnout and the crowd that filled the main oval.
A pleasant evening and cool breeze ensured everyone was comfortable among friends and family as they sat in chairs or lounged on picnic rugs spread across the grass.
“It’s the 31st year that Moama has been having the Christmas Carols by Candlelight and the second year hosted on the main oval in Moama,” Mr Hosking said.
“I think this is the biggest crowd we have had in many years, with just over 500 people here tonight. People are still walking into the grounds.”

The evening also included giveaways, including Christmas hampers donated by the Moama Lions, a Sophie Hosking photography package, door prizes and other prizes donated by Echuca Moama businesses for the lucky winners.
“We have many sponsors, including the Murray River Council, Epicentre Church in Echuca, Rich River Golf Club, the RSL, and of course the Moama Lions,” Mr Hosking said.
“The event also has a few food vans, so anyone who is hungry will have a full stomach and be entertained with the music.
Enjoying: The gathering at the Carols by Candlelight.
The Moama Lions were also serving hot chips with long lines of people eager to enjoy the chips while also supporting the not-for-profit organisation.
“Last year was a cracker of a night, and I’m sure this night will be just as good,” Mr Hosking said.
