Colin drove up to Coolatai recently to drop off some bales to friends and said conditions are heartbreaking.
“One of my friends couldn't talk when I gave him the bale,” Colin said.
“He just stood there, tearing up.”
Originally from the tiny northern NSW town, Colin sold up just before the drought started to bite in.
“These people are in a lot of trouble,” he said.
“If local farmers could donate one or two round or square bales for them, that would be brilliant.
“These bales may only be a token gesture, but at least it shows them people are thinking of them, they're not forgotten.”
In addition to donating to his past hometown, Colin is hoping to transport bales to areas recently hit by fires.
“Here, everybody is on borrowed money. But in the fire areas, they've got bloody nothing,” he said.
“If we manage to gather enough hay, I'm hoping we can take it to these fire areas as well.”
In addition to donating hay, Colin is calling on any locals who would be interested in donating time to deliver the hay.
