The flushing process is necessary to wash out any accumulated dissolved mineral sediments that may be sitting in the water mains.
During this period, customers may notice discoloured water and reduced water pressure in their homes and businesses, which is normal while the flushing is being carried out.
The discoloured water does not pose a health risk and will clear up as council move into different areas.
Regular water pressure will also return as the flushing program moves throughout Moama.
Water customers are encouraged to check for discolouration, especially before using washing machines.
If residents do experience discoloured water, they are advised to run the cold water tap for five to 10 minutes until the water runs clear.
If the discolouration continues past this timeframe, contact council on 1300 087 004 and lodge a service request.
Council will provide updates on the council Facebook page regarding which areas they will be flushing as they move along.
Signs will also be displayed at the entrance of each area while flushing is occurring.
The program is expected to be completed by mid-late October 2025.
