All chosen projects will aim to improve community and tourism facilities, to help strengthen the local communities.
Among the five groups are Picola United Football Netball Club and the Barmah Community Group.
Picola United received a $10,000 grant to help install three split-systems in the community rooms at the Picola Recreation Reserve.
The Barmah Community Group will be renewing existing tourist information signs and updating details and information on maps using its $4565 grant.
Moira Shire Council chair administrator Graeme Emonson said the grants program played an important role in supporting community organisations.
“These grants are designed to support groups that offer diverse and inclusive services, facilities, events and activities to benefit the community,” Dr Emonson said.
“Community organisations are vital to what makes Moira Shire a great place to live, and this program empowers local groups to bring their projects to life.”
The 2025-26 Community Strengthening Grants program has a total budget of $185,000, which is offered through Quick Response and Major streams.
The chosen projects will receive funding under round one of the 2025-26 program’s Major Grants stream
To date, $12,582 has been allocated to five applicants under the Quick Response streams and $33,701 has been allocated to five applicants under the Major stream.
A further round of grants will open in 2026.
