More art for the rural mural town

Tongala Primary and St Patrick’s Primary have recently celebrated the completion of vibrant new murals on school grounds.

Local artist Zowie, from The Art of Zowie, created both murals, drawing inspiration from the region's rich farming heritage and original student artwork.

St Patrick’s Primary School principal Jackie Stockdale said the school’s mural was a powerful example of student voice and collaboration.

Ms Stockdale said the school community was delighted with the result at St Patrick’s.

“This piece is incredibly special because it has been created using our students’ own artwork, coming together as one shared community masterpiece,” Ms Stockdale said.

The mural was funded by the school’s fundraising committee, whose work continues to support creative projects across the school.

“This mural is a wonderful celebration of creativity, collaboration and community, and it will be enjoyed by our students and families for many years to come,” Ms Stockdale said.

Tongala Primary School principal Rob Hogan said he wanted to have something that represented the community’s strong farming background in the school.

“The kids were out there watching and helping at times and so on as well, which was fantastic,” Mr Hogan said.

The impressive mural at Tongala Primary was completed in December last year, following an exciting week-long painting process that engaged the entire student cohort.

Mr Hogan said he hoped the artwork would inspire some of the school’s young artists.
