Greater Shepparton City Council has announced that the speed limits on Echuca Rd, between Cornish Rd and Gange St in Mooroopna, and on Verney Rd, between Ford Rd and the Goulburn Valley Hwy in Shepparton, will be reduced from 80km/h to 60km/h in the upcoming weeks.
Additionally, two extra 40km/h school zones will be introduced along Verney Rd in front of All Saints Anglican School and GV Grammar School to enhance student safety.
Council’s manager of engineering and assets Ben Gannon has urged residents to familiarise themselves with the upcoming changes and to continue practising safe driving habits.
“We understand that these changes may require some adjustments for local drivers in their daily routines, and we appreciate their co-operation as we strive to make our streets safer for everyone,” he said.
“By collectively adhering to these measures, we can significantly reduce accidents and build a safer community.
“Council remains committed to prioritising the safety and wellbeing of all residents and visitors through ongoing efforts to enhance road safety.”
