Dispose your e-waste at transfer stations
Residents are reminded that e-waste items can be disposed of for free at any of Gannawarra Shire Council’s transfer stations.
E-waste products — which refers to any item with a plug, battery or cord that is no longer working or wanted — are banned from being placed in rubbish bins and landfills throughout Victoria and must be taken to your local transfer station for recycling.
Placing e-waste items in household waste creates risks for the people who collect household bins and items can be harmful to the environment if disposed of at landfills.
E-waste contains valuable resources that can be recycled, such as tin, nickel, zinc, aluminium, copper, silver, gold and plastic, as well as hazardous materials that can cause environmental contamination.
All e-waste taken to council’s transfer stations is repurposed.
