During the operation, police interacted with the navigators and passengers on five boats and nine other personal watercraft (PWCs).
The 14 vessels were stopped and their navigators breath tested. Safety checks also took place.
Police said only one criminal infringement notice was issued for not carrying a licence.
Acting Inspector Troy Martin said the operation was part of a summer long focus on community safety on the water.
“Officers will be increasing patrols across NSW waterways to target unsafe behaviour on boats and personal watercraft,” he said.
“Local police districts will focus on key risk factors including speeding, dangerous PWC riding, alcohol and drug use, and non‑compliance with life jacket laws.
“NSW Police are urging boaters to plan ahead, check their equipment, ensure their vessel is registered, and confirm they hold the correct licence.
“Officers will continue to work closely with Transport for NSW to ensure compliance and reduce injuries and fatalities across NSW waterways.”
As well as the Edward River at Deniliquin, Murray River Police District officers were on the water at Lake Mulwala and Moama on Australia Day.
