The Deniliquin performance is supported by South West Music Regional Conservatorium, which will host the quartet at the Cressy St venue from 2pm on Sunday, June 15.
Penny Quartet has gained a national reputation as a driven and multifaceted voice in Australian chamber music.
Founded in early 2014, the group brings a vibrant approach to performances across the country and is now bringing the award-winning sound to the Riverina.
With diverse individual backgrounds and experiences across the globe, Penny Quartet brings together years of knowledge and training to create a mature quartet sound.
Music in the Regions board chair Don Harwin said this tour is at the core of Music in the Regions’ mission — to create greater cultural opportunities closer to home for the two million people living outside Sydney, Newcastle and Wollongong.
“Music in the Regions is excited to be touring with Penny Quartet as one of Australia’s award-winning musical ensembles, bringing their exceptional artistry to a wonderful mix of regional locations,” he said.
“I am looking forward to returning to familiar partners, as well as discovering new regional locations and communities with whom to share this special program.”
The Penny Quartet tour is titled ‘Joy ABounds’.
Quartet members said they would “present the stunning writing of Haydn and Ravel, alongside the evocative Australian landscape of Peter Sculthorpe, and the warm, verdant sounds of Grammy award-winning composer Caroline Shaw”.
Other Music in the Regions appearances by the quartet will be hosted in Uranquinty, Leeton, Temora and Tocumwal.
