“We try to source locally as much as we can from markets and farms,” owner John Oliveri said.
“This is something that not only helps our community, but also assists in making our food fresher than other bigger chain stores because there is less travel time and less time that our food is kept in a truck or in storage.”
Mr Oliveri said many of his customers told him his produce lasted longer than typical grocery store items.
Always on the look out for the freshest and most flavoursome produce for his customers, Mr Oliveri taste tests most of the produce that appears as stock on his shelves.
“This is so I can ensure that our products are of high quality,” he said.
Mr Oliveri said his stock was always changing, season by season.
With winter fast approaching, some of the produce available will begin to shift and change.
While berries and mangoes will be harder to come by, the delicious autumn and winter fruits customers have been waiting for, such as oranges, melons, mandarins and bananas, will be readily available for purchase at the store.
“With our stock rotating regularly, we are able to offer more versatility of products,” Mr Oliveri said.
Mr Oliveri said it was The Pear Tree staff’s helpful service and the superb quality of the produce that got people talking about the store
“Come support our local, family business,” he said.
