The event will be held on Saturday, October 25, with an array of activities, displays from local clubs and live music set to fill the port.
Port of Echuca museum curation and volunteer co-ordinator Suzan Dalziel said the event aimed to highlight the joys of country living.
“This is the inaugural event, with hopes to continue and expand on this concept in October each year,” she said.
“The aim is to return to simple attractions focusing on life in our country river region, continuing the Port of Echuca’s tradition of festivals and celebrations.”
Kevin Wilson and his sheepdogs will be a standout attraction, bringing rural traditions to life with their impressive herding demonstrations.
At the Old Woodturners Building, The Echuca Model Railway Club will have its working model train display on site and a hands-on model train for kids to play with.
The Echuca Vintage Machinery Club will feature a display of static machinery, demonstrating how the equipment operates while highlighting its significance throughout rural Australian history.
Always a crowd favourite, Rob Dingey will bring his model paddle steamer display, allowing visitors a closer look at the paddle steamers that once powered Australia’s inland waterways.
For the children and animal lovers, the Billabong ranch is running pony rides at the Hopwood Gardens and also an animal nursery at the port’s pop-up park beside the Echuca wharf.
The Billabong Ranch will also be running carriage rides for those wanting to take a trip in style around the Port Precinct.
No fair is complete without live music, and on the day, the Echuca Bellas Choir and Echuca Federal Band will keep the tunes flowing as guests explore all the port has to offer.
In the Murray Esplanade, OMG BBQ Bendigo will be serving up smoked and slow-cooked meats using Australian red gum in a heritage boiler as the smoker.
The day is set to kick off at 9am, with visitors welcome to explore the family-friendly activities throughout the day.
