To the uninitiated, the Lalalty District Hall is an unassuming building, hunched in red brick-and-mortar off Berrigan Rd.

Indeed, if you don’t know where to look, the hall, located about 10 minutes’ drive from Barooga, is easy to miss.
“It’s very unique,” Lalalty District Hall Committee secretary Marcia Nolan said.
“It’s the building on the right-hand side. If you get to Berrigan, you’ve gone too far.”
Sitting off the road between Barooga and Berrigan, the hall relies on a dedicated committee to keep running.

Maintained by a dedicated committee for the past 50 years, the hall has served as the focal point for the surrounding community of farmers and smaller towns.
“Lots of fun has been had here,” Mrs Nolan said.
“It’s a great meeting spot.”
Indeed, its ideal location between Barooga and Berrigan gives the hall a distinct advantage over its more urban counterparts.
Surrounded by farmland, it is far enough away from anyone who might wish to make a formal noise complaint.
“Our main priority is just to have all the farming families and the smaller communities come together at a location that is perfect,” Mrs Nolan said.
Christmas parties, farmers’ gatherings, you name it: if it’s worth getting together for, the hall has hosted it.
And this month, the annual Lalalty District Hall Trivia Night is returning.
Brains will be set to work and friendships put to the test in the ultimate contest of memory recall and general knowledge on Wednesday, July 30.
It’s all for a good cause, with proceeds from the evening going straight back into the upkeep of the hall. The committee hopes to include upgrading accessibility to the toilets and renovations to the kitchen.
This year, there will be about six rounds of questions, ranging from general knowledge to sports and personalities.
Win or lose, nobody will walk away empty-handed, with organisers to hand out chocolates and lollies throughout the night.
A special prize awaits the winning team.
The committee will also run a raffle and games throughout the evening.
A $10 per person admission, payable on the night, covers supper.
Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.
The event is cash only.
