In partnership with Victoria’s Container Deposit Scheme (CDS Vic), collection bins have been placed in accessible locations around the hospital for staff, patients and visitors to recycle eligible drink containers.
    
                  
                                                                
                  
                                            
                              
        All eligible containers placed in the bins will be processed through CDS Vic, with the 10c refund directed to ERH when the hospital is nominated as the charity of choice.
    
                  
                                                                                                                                                                                    
                              
        “This collaboration with CDS Vic provides our community with a practical way to make a positive impact,” ERH public relations officer Sarah Crossman said.
    
                  
                                                                                                                                                                                    
                              
        “By recycling eligible containers, residents and staff are helping to reduce landfill and litter, while at the same time supporting the delivery of vital health services across our region.”
    
                  
                                                                                                                                                                                    
                              
        The hospital is committed to environmental sustainability, and has established an Environmental Sustainability Group that aims to reduce wasteful and harmful practices.
    
                  
                                                                                                                                                                                    
                              
        It is working towards net-zero emissions, understanding the hospital’s carbon footprint, promoting sustainability across ERH’s services, and collaborating with other healthcare providers.
    
                  
                                                                
                  
                  
                                                                                                                                                                                    
                              
        ERH executive director of finance and corporate services Robyn Rudge said the hospital was community-minded, and understood the need to protect the local environment.
    
                  
                                                                                                                                                                                    
                              
        “By donating your 10c refund to ERH, you are contributing to cleaner public spaces and ensuring that we can continue to provide high-quality care for generations to come,” she said.
