Butter from the Murray Goulburn Co-operative factory at Rochester was named the Australian champion for salted butter at the Perth event.

Murray Goulburn is Australia’s largest manufacturer of butter, milk powder and casein and claimed the title with a 95/100 score.
— Two former students of Rochestsr High school, Heather Thompson and Wendy Bramley, received 1976 GJ Rankon scholarships.
They are now at the state college of Victoria at Bendigo, winning $250 Each in recognition of their final secondary school year.

Peg becking was the appeal co-ordinator, with Criterion Hotel licensee Noel Downes also playing a big role in the total.
Lyle Druitt from the Shamrock Hotel also significantly increased its contribution from the previous year.

1987
Rochester was given $30,000 for the completion of nine projects for the 1988 Bicentennial celebrations.
An open-sided caravan was among the funded additions to the community, along with a sprinkler system at she apex park. A commemorative cairn near the old Common school in High St and a $6000 town clock with four faces.
— Rochester senior citizens celebrated their 20th birthday.
— Cath Hooper was named Rochester’s A-grade tennis champion at the Rochester Churches and District Tennis Association presentation evening.
Bruce Knight won the men’s A-grade award, while Narelle Slattery and John Knight were the other award winners.
In the A-grade grand final Lawn Red took the title from St Joseph’s Blue.
The lawn team consisted of five members of the Knight family as the most senior of the team Dot Knight partnered with daughters Christine and Cath (Hooper), son Bruce and grandson Peter Hooper.
There were also two relatives playing in the St Joseph’s side they defeated, Dot’s nephew John Knight and his daughter Sally.
— Rochestsr Shire Council was considering the seizure of farms and farm equipment for the recovery of outstanding rates.
Shire secretary Kevin Jackel said some of the amounts had reached $5000 and debts had been building for a number of years.
He said a warrant had been issued to one property owner for the seizure of assets.
— Campaspe Calley Community Centre was the venue for the St John debutante hall.

1997
Sergeant Frank Severino of Rochester police was warning people against spreading rumours about the identity of a prowler who had been preying on Rochester people for four months.
A 34-year-old Rochester man was summonsed to appear in court after incidents in the town.
Police then provided a warning to residents not to accuse anyone of being the prowler — based on rumours. Three men had been the subject of accusations and none had any involvement in the incidents.
— Rochester and district nursing home was officially opened in front of 200 people.
Health Minister Rob Knowles completed the unveiling of a plaque alongside REDHS broad president Daniel Kelliher and former president Robyn Phillips.
The community raised $241,160 toward the project and the total cost was $1.5 million.
— Anthony McPhee kicked eight goals, Gavin exell four and Simon MCCarty three as Rochester kicked 26 majors and best Seymour by 87 points.
Michael Efting and Scott Hansen dominated in the air and Mick Auld made a welcome return for the Tigers.
2007
Brad Major scored 532 runs for the season to win top honours for Rochester Tigers Cricket Club.
He also took 15 wickets to claim the club champion award and share the bowling title with Cade Ringin.
Adrian Pappin won the Keith Wilson memorial trophy at Rochester United Cricket Club.
Other award winners at United were captain Steve Rasmussen and Dylan Cuttriss.
— Jack and Eileen Anderson celebrated 60 years of marriage.
Eileen, born and bred in Rochester, met Jack in 1944 when he came to the town as an electrician.
They were married on April 7, 1947, and had five children — Garry, Glenn, Judi (Riordan), Jeanne (Aitken) and Karen (Watson), along with 12 grandchildren.
