The ‘Mindful Musos’, first formed in October, and are now looking forward to their first show.
The group hopes the hour-long session will help attendees relax and practice mindfulness.
Organiser Carol Collings said she was inspired to create the group after taking part in a sound bath.
“I sat there, and I thought, I could do one of these, with lots of different musical instruments and musicians and singers and people who might want to get involved and do it for the community,” she said.
“That’s the whole idea of this — to provide the community with an hour or so of relaxation, a place to come and find a bit of inner peace with this busy world that we live in.”
Ms Collings has been teaching meditation since 2010 while working at schools as an integration aid and has run meditation classes at Echuca Neighbourhood House for many years.
Seeing how much the Neighbourhood House sessions helped participants, she wanted to expand the program to reach even more people who could benefit from meditation.
Ms Collings said she hoped the show would be a positive experience for those who attend.
“Scientifically it's been proven that sound has that ability to move through your body, you can feel the vibration of it, and it has an effect on your body and your mind,” she said.
“You become more relaxed and let go of a lot of anxiety when you have a sound bath.
“I'm hoping that will help (and) be one of those experiences for the people that come, and even if it's not, that one hour at least will be nice, and relaxing and peaceful.”
The ‘Musical Musos’ welcome both those who can play instruments and those who just want to share in the music.
Currently, there are a few ukulele players, while others can choose from a range of easy-to-play percussion instruments.
Their very first show will be held this weekend on Sunday, November 30 from 2pm at the Echuca Neighbourhood House on Landsborough St.
The group hopes to continue hosting monthly shows on the last Sunday of each month.
