Community members and footy coaches took an icy plunge on the night of Thursday, May 29 in support of FightMND.

Rochester Junior Football Netball Club hosted the event at Windridge Oval, where 11 people braved the cold for a cause close to the town.
Participants sat on a board above a dunk tank’s frigid water while kids from the club tried to tip them in by hitting a target.

Event organiser Rebecca O’Sullivan said about 250 people attended, and the fundraising total was at $3613 on Friday, May 30.
“We’ve just been told this morning there’s a big donation coming in from someone as well,” she said.
“But to be over $3000, we were absolutely rapt to start with.”

FightMND merchandise was also for sale on the night and not included in the club’s total fundraising number.
Following last year’s event, Ms O’Sullivan said she found out multiple families in the club and town had been affected by motor neurone disease.
“There was three families within our club that have been directly touched by MND and then lots of people approached us in the community that have also been,” she said.
“You just want to support your community however you can.”
She thanked Campaspe Shire Council for donating the food, Rochester Lions Club for cooking, Rochester Fire Brigade for filling the dunk tank and It’s Party Time Hire for the equipment.
