Held on the weekend of March 13-15, the `Rod Run’ — as it is most commonly known — attracts a crowd of more than 2000 people.
Hot rods, dragsters, custom vehicles, classic cars, motorbikes and everything else in between will be on display for motoring enthusiasts to admire. There will also be live music, food vans, trade stalls, a petting zoo and other activities for children, making the event a popular one for families.
The three-day extravaganza is the main event for Rich River Rod and Custom Club, and president Rob Greiner said everything was set for the weekend.
“It's all organised, we're just waiting for the day to arrive now,” Mr Greiner said.
“We've had 170 entries from outside our club for the show ‘n’ shine and with our club members that will take the number to over 200.”
The event kicks off on Friday at 5 pm with registrations before entrants head out to Wharparilla for the drive-in hot rod movie Deuce of Spades.
On Saturday morning entrants will head off for an observation run within Campaspe Shire with the first prize being a weekend for two at the bed-and-breakfast at the old butter factory in Gunbower.
A tour of the port precinct in Echuca has been arranged for Saturday afternoon with the chance for entrants to take a trip along the Murray River on PS Hero.
On Saturday night the action moves to Moama RSL for a two-course meal and entertainment from the band The Mighty Kings.
Then the main event — the show ‘n’ shine — will rev up on Sunday morning at Jack Eddy Oval from 8 am.
Entrants have the chance to duck back to the Moama RSL for a ‘morning tea with Elvis (impersonator)’ and then return for the show ‘n’ shine which really revs up about 10 am.
As well as the impressive display of restored vehicles, there will be cars on trailers in various stages of rebuild, as well as dragsters.
“If anyone else wants to turn up on the day with a car they want to put on display, they are most welcome,” Mr Greiner said.
“There are a lot of good cars in the Echuca-Moama area and it's about encouraging people to get them out of the garages.”
Entry on the Sunday for members of the public is $5.
The day will also feature a presentation to Echuca Village Fire Brigade of an Engel fridge from the Rich River Rod and Custom Club.
The club also directs proceeds from the event to various charity organisations around the twin towns, making the three-day show a winner for the wider community as well.
