He was in Echuca to pick up the letters written by students from 208 Primary School, Echuca Twin Rivers Primary School, Echuca East Primary School, St Mary’s Primary School and Berrimba Kindergarten.
Santa thanked his old mates from the Echuca Lions Club for their assistance in collecting all the letters.
Echuca Lions Club has been helping out Santa for the past 15 years with spokesperson Kevin Woolnough saying members were proud to play their part.
“The teachers remind the students to write a letter to Santa requesting what they would like for Christmas,” Mr Woolnough said.
“These letters are then picked up by the Lions Club members and passed on to Santa Claus.
“Santa then, with his helpers, gives a reply to the children.
“Echuca Lions Club will then pick these letters up from Santa and take them back to the schools and children by December 13.”
Mr Woolnough said there were more than 650 letters delivered by them to Santa.
“Santa’s got the biggest job in the world at this time of the year, so it means a lot for us to help him out in this way,” he said.
“Some of the letters are just beautiful … last year there was one youngster who said ‘they didn’t want a present from Santa, but if they could get one for mum because she had a tough year.
“Others ask for plenty of toys and others write to Santa asking about his reindeer.”
