Murray River Council has appointed Sarah Ryan as the acting chief executive until permanent chief is recruited.
The appointment follows the resignation of current chief executive Terry Dodds, who finishes up in the position on November 1.
Mrs Ryan is currently the community and economic development director.
Mayor John Harvie said Mrs Ryan’s appointment will help maintain council’s workflow.
“Business continuity will be much better supported and maintained by having an existing director, with complete knowledge of the organisation, rather than employing a locum during this period,” he said.
“Under the leadership of Sarah, and with all council members and staff working together, we will continue to meet the daily operational needs of the council and deliver outcomes on behalf of the community.”
An external agency will commence recruitment for the chief executive role which is expected to take between three and six months.
