Share the Dignity has once again managed to make a real difference in the lives of many after donating 80 bags to women and girls experiencing poverty.
The ‘It’s in the Bag’ appeal was designed to encourage people to fill handbags with much-needed personal care items and donate them as a gift to someone for Christmas.
Share the Dignity partners with trusted charities to disperse the gifts out to females experiencing homelessness, facing hardship or fleeing domestic violence.
Share the Dignity’s regional coordinator Alannah Wills said they received 80 bags filled with goodies.
She thanked everyone who donated to the appeal.
“We know that our region has recently been through a lot and that people probably didn’t have a lot left to give so we really appreciate every donation that came our way,” Ms Wills said.
“We didn’t expect a lot, but you really dug into your pockets, and for that we are grateful.”
There were three varieties of bags involved in the campaign — teens, adults and mums and bubs.
Priceline and Bunnings were the major sponsors of the 2022 drive, while the Salvation Army provided stacks of handbags at a reduced price for people to fill.
The next Share the Dignity drive will be in March.
