Residents at Glanville Village had an extra person at afternoon tea this week, with a Member of the Victorian Parliament taking the time to stop by.

Ageing Minister Ingrid Stitt said it was great to stop by on Wednesday and talk to the people living at the facility.
“It’s been fantastic, and I suppose the thing that sticks out for me is just the brilliant staff and the amazing care that they provide our older Victorians,” she said.
“I’ve been having some lovely chats with the residents about why this is such a special facility for them.

According to the minister, it’s essential for people who make decisions about these services to make sure they are visiting them.
“It’s so important, I think, for all of the ministers and MPs to get out and visit some of the critical services in their communities and beyond,” she said.
“Every time I go to a new aged care facility, I learn something new about the amazing effort that goes into keeping our older residents engaged and giving them that dignity later in life.”
ERH’s Nursing and Midwifery executive director, and Chief Nursing Officer Maree Woodhouse were glad to have the ministerial visit.

“We are delighted to welcome the minister to come and meet our residents and staff and showcase our lovely facility,” she said.
“Ingrid’s commented already how it’s been delightful for her to talk to residents and for the residents to tell their stories about life at Glenville, which has been really rewarding to hear.”
The visit to Glanville Village coincided with the regional parliamentary sitting that occurred in Echuca on Thursday.
"In our democratic system, it’s essential that people get access to their members of parliament and see that sort of democracy in action. I think bringing that out to the regional communities is a really good initiative,” she said.
“I give credit to all the staff in the parliament. It’s a big job to bring the whole show out of the building in Melbourne and take it to the regions.”
