Kids and Kiwanis: Violet Plant and Ned Campbell were among the first to thank the Echuca-Moama Kiwanis Club members who provided a barbecue for the St Joseph’s Golden Hammer day celebration.
Echuca-Moama’s Kiwanis members have been regulars in Rochester since the floods of October 2022.

By the end of this week the service club, which was introduced to Australia in 1967, will have played a role in activities at all three schools: Rochester Primary School, St Joseph’s Primary School and Rochester Secondary College.
Primary ping pong: Josie Lea is makes her table tennis return during the annual celebration.
Last week Kiwanis members catered for the St Joseph’s Golden Hammer Day event — fitting neatly with the international charter of ‘One child, one community at a time; small steps to improve the lives of children’.
The Echuca-Moama club started in 1988 and had a strong representation at St Joseph’s last week for the fun events at the school, which no doubt increased the appetites of participants.
At Rochester Primary School, a month ago, the club offered a free lunch, and on Thursday will cater for the leadership induction day at the secondary college.
The club will be supported by the Bendigo Kiwanis group for that event, due to the large number of students that will attend.
The Bendigo group donated $500 towards the Rochester school events, which assisted the Echuca-Moama branch in purchasing sausages from Cottam Family Butchers and bread from the Rochester Bakery.
Cate Ward, a friend of Echuca-Moama Kiwanis, instigated the relationship between the club and the schools, which has been adopted as the Kiwanis group’s way of supporting Rochester in a time of need.
Considering her options: Evie Plant prepares to make a decision as to where she will release this tennis ball.
Easy does it: Jaxon Scoble places an icy pole stick on his ‘tower’ in precise fashion.
Roll on, 2023: Nathan Bramley works with plasticine as students rotate through a range of hands-on activities for Golden Hammer Day.
