ST MARY'S girls' football team will travel to take on the best schools in the state after winning the Loddon Mallee regional finals at Swan Hill last week.

After losing their opening game by 14 points against Holy Rosemary, the team hit their straps with back-to-back victories over St Kilian's and Nicholas Point by seven and 19 points respectively.
Their 2-1 record saw them qualify for the grand final where they saved their best for last with a 5.1 (31) to 1.0 (6) win over Kyneton.
St Mary's will now travel to Anthony Beale Reserve, St Helena, near Melbourne, on August 22 to compete in the state finals.
The day's competition will see them face off against three other schools in a round-robin format, with the top placed team earning a grand final birth against the winner of the other pool.
In the boys' competition, St Mary's narrowly fell short of a place in the final after going down by 14 points against Mildura South in the semi-finals.
They also finished with a 2-1 record after their initial pool games.
Echuca PS also performed admirably on the day, finishing in seventh position after defeating St Mary’s Robinvale in a position play-off.
