Cohuna Consolidated School, Kerang Primary School and Koondrook Primary School all took part after receiving a grant from CluBarham.
Top day: Stomp dance instructors Lizzie Kaxos and Kira Mader with students from all three schools (Cohuna Consolidated, Koondrook and Kerang).
Cohuna Consolidated teacher Michelle Howard said all the students enjoyed an amazing week.
“It has been great to see the way the kids have embraced the dancers and how quickly they have been able to learn these dances,” Mrs Howard said.
“They only work with them for half an hour a day, learning a different dance and the students had them down pat.
Counting the beat: Cohuna Consolidated Year 5 and 6 students in action.
“I am blown away with how well the instructors have taught them as well, because we can have school concerts and we will practice for a whole term for one dance.
“They have done four dances already this week, with each school learning the dances and then doing the finale and showcase dance on Friday.”
The three schools came together to perform a 300-child dance spectacular on Friday, March 24.
The performance was held on the Cohuna Consolidated School basketball court, with parents and friends watching from the adjacent grassed area.
Great time: Cohuna Consolidated School Year 3 and 4 students.
CluBarham chief executive Jason Wallace thought the project was a great idea and was happy to support the event.
“We were asked before Christmas to financially support the project, which I took to the board and they were very happy to do,” Mr Wallace said.
“Bringing the dance company up from Melbourne was in line with our strategic plan to support the kids and the community.
“The kids have suffered through COVID, and their mental health has been suffering.
“We couldn’t be more happy and grateful to support the youth in our community.”
Cohuna Consolidated School Preps to Year 2 performed Crowd Goes Crazy, Years 3 and 4 Lionheart and Years 5 and 6 Double Jump.
Kerang Primary School Preps to Year 2 performed Crocodile Rock, with the rest of the school performing Where Did You Go?.
Koondrook Primary School Preps to Year 2 performed Work Up, with the older children performing My Heart Goes.
The dance spectacular finished with all three schools coming together to perform On Top of the World by Shawn Mendes.
