Acting principal Stephanie Arundel said the school initially applied for the Federal Government Capital Grants Program for non-government schools in 2024 and was unsuccessful.
She said it reapplied again in 2025 and was pleased to announce that it was awarded the $1.677 million grant earlier this year.
“We were super pumped,” Ms Arundel said.
“We’re really excited about the potential that this has to offer for the students and their learning, and how it can boost the staff as well.”
Ms Arundel said the grant would go towards a new general learning area, furniture and equipment for the learning area, toilet block and potentially a covered outdoor area.
“It'll allow us to offer more enrolments to grow our school community, and it will also allow the Year 6 leadership centre to hold between 50 and 55 students,” she said.
Ms Arundel said the sport teachers were looking forward to hopefully having a covered outdoor area, as it would give them the flexibility to teach outside in any weather.
The school has already had several meetings with the architects and anticipates that planning will be completed by the end of 2026, with construction expected to begin in 2027.
“Over the coming months, design plans will move through rigorous consultation processes to ensure the very best outcomes for our students and community,” Ms Arundel said.
“Our school board will be a part of the decision-making around the architecture, and there'll be staff input.
“This is an exciting and important chapter in our school’s journey.”
