House Captain Ivy led the victory team and said it was a great day.
“It was exciting when we found out we’d won,” she said.
“I liked showing all the younger kids what to do and how to do stuff.”

This was a common feeling among the other captains.
“(I liked) doing the activities with (the younger students), helping them out by getting them better at all the skills,” House Captain Emma said.

For the younger students, it was fun to learn how to play different games and to compete against each other in a supportive environment. Jessie, who was on the winning team, loved it.
“We were trying really hard, and if we didn’t know how to do something properly, we asked Ivy. It was lots of fun,” she said.

Principal Lindy Burke said it’s an excellent way for students to meet people across the different grades and to show school spirit and values.
“It gives (the captains) the responsibility to lead the team and also to build relationships with younger kids throughout the school,” she said.

“We get to see students show resilience, we see them keep trying, or other just have really good skills. There are ones that struggled but didn’t complain. There are kids that cheered, that were encouraging. They all displayed the school values.”
