Football and netball players, along with their supporters, are encouraged to visit their local pool this summer to help their team win a new award.
Gannawarra Shire Council has partnered with the Koondrook swimming pool Committee to launch the first-ever Preseason Pool Challenge.
Visitors to Cohuna, Leitchville, Koondrook and Kerang swimming pools can log the numbers of laps they’ve swum to boost their team’s total tally.
Acting council chief executive Wade Williams said the challenge was a great way to get active while supporting a local sports team.
“It doesn’t matter whether you are an active swimmer, someone who rarely visits any of our pools or a supporter of a local team,” he said.
“Your efforts will help improve your fitness and boost the competitive spirit amongst our football and netball clubs.”
To record swimming, use the log sheet at any venue and allocate laps to the selected club before Sunday, March 1.
The top two lap swimmers at each venue will also be recognised with a free season pass for the 2026-27 season.
The council’s popular Morning Laps program is running at Cohuna swimming pool from 6am to 8am on Tuesdays and Thursday, and 8am to 10am on Wednesdays and Fridays until the end of February.
