From Thursday, November 27, the Telstra mobile base station will be temporarily affected during upgrades that will improve its service.
Telstra regional general manager for northern and western Victoria Steven Tinker said bringing 5G coverage to the area is a major mobile milestone.
“It will deliver higher speeds and capacity to the region, meaning faster downloads, smoother streaming and less congestion,” he said.
“Some disruption is required while the upgrade is under way, but we’ll only be switching off the site when we need to and will have it back online and working better than ever as quickly as possible.”
The site will need to be switched off during the following periods:
Thursday, November 27 ― full day outage with restoration to the Telstra mobile network at the day’s end.
Friday, November 28 ― disruptions at intervals during the day.
Monday, November 31 ― full day outage with restoration to the Telstra mobile network at the day’s end.
Tuesday, December 1 and Wednesday, December 2 ― minimal disruptions as call testing and network integration are completed.
Landline services, NBN and Starlink or satellite internet services, and mobile coverage from other providers will not be impacted.
Any calls to 000 from a Telstra mobile when the site is off will automatically connect to another mobile network if available.
Customers are encouraged to use wi-fi calling during disruptions to continue making calls and sending texts.
