It was a big difference from December when fires were sweeping through the small township.
Event committee member Kelli Simmons said the work the CFA did during that time to protect the community was amazing, and deserved a celebration.
“It was an amazing night, we had 300 people there,” she said.
“The food was unbelievable. It was donated by local businesses, and some was purchased thanks to a (Victorian Government) grant with the help of Jaclyn Symes, which was an over-the-gate grant.
“We had Adam Toms singing, who was brilliant. Everybody raved about him.
“Everyone said it had such a good atmosphere and it was really relaxed.
“Everything just went perfectly.“
Ms Simmons said the event was the idea of Goomalibee CFA captain Darryl McNeilly, and was quickly embraced by local communities.
“Every café we asked for a food donation, and every restaurant, wanted to help,” she said.
“And then the Goorambat Pub (the Railway Hotel), they were absolutely amazing.
“They cooked all the meat for the 300 people.”
Ms Simmons said it was a great family event.
“All the kids had so much fun,” she said.
“We had a piñata, we had jumping castles, fire tractor and (henna) tattoos.
“But it was all about saying thank you, to everyone that helped us during the fire, and to get all the neighbours around to talk about what happened, as it was very frightening.
“We’re very pleased with how it went.”
