The duo of Helen and Rosie are the newest members of the ‘Keeping it Wheel’ team which has the ambitious goal to raise $8000 for the Opening Doors Project before the July 28 event, with the tally sitting at the $5000 mark.
Living in the Minor St, Echuca house — one of the first large projects for Community Living and Respite Services — Rosie and Helen wanted to repay the favour and help others.
‘‘Kim Boland was training and I said ‘I want to do this’,’’ Helen said.
‘‘And I want to help build a house for more people,’’ Rosie said.
The Keeping it Wheel team has raised funds by hosting a donut drive, selling chocolates and a raffle — but the group said it still had a few ideas up its sleeves to get them across the line in fundraising terms.
As for crossing the Run Melbourne line, Rosie and Helen have been training hard and are well on their way to tackling the 5km event.
