Timed parking within Melbourne Street?

A car park does exist at the rear of the businesses for the benefit of employees and customers visiting businesses, especially for those wanting longer than an hour shopping or working.

Optimum use of the plentiful carparking at the rear of businesses is being sought by council.

The idea of parking meters or other time-controlled measures is not welcomed by Mulwala Progress Association President Robert Purtle OAM. “I’m certainly not in favour of it,” he said.

“I think it would be detrimental to our businesses in the street. It would have to be policed – how’s the law enforcing going to operate? I don’t think the RTA (state road) would want that situation.”
